Creating a responsive, flexible and durable signage system for a craft museum in Kutch

CLIENT: SHRUJAN TRUST
LOCATION: BHUJ, KUTCH, GUJARAT
YEAR OF COMPLETION: 20XX

The Living and Learning Design Centre is a unique craft museum in Bhuj that focuses on the craft traditions of the Kutch region. Built by the Shrujan Trust, the museum showcases world-class galleries and amenities that are aimed at providing livelihood and learning opportunities to artisans and their families. The campus acts as a showcase of the exquisite embroideries for an audience at large, as well as a design and training centre for the artisans of the region.

The sprawling 5-acre campus has a distinct wall colour and houses different amenities at different areas. We worked with the client to create a simple, easy to comprehend, bilingual wayfinding and signage system covering large format maps, directional, informational and locational signage for use in both day and night-time hours.

We worked on creating a customised pin-mounted bilingual identification signage system in brass for the main galleries in the museum to match the materiality and feel of the space.

Our grid-based design approach allows for a range of sizes across applications while maintaining a unified visual aesthetic and logical scalable options.
