Brief:
The Living and Learning Design Centre is a unique craft museum in Bhuj that focuses on the craft traditions of the Kutch region. Built by the Shrujan Trust, the museum showcases world-class galleries and amenities that are aimed at providing livelihood and learning opportunities to artisans and their families.
In spite of a sprawling campus and excellent amenities, the museum had been unable to attract a large number of visitors because of the remote location of Bhuj and its absence from the popular tourist circuit. We were invited to develop a stronger brand presence in the region that stood out amongst other craft-based attractions and encouraged tourists and locals to visit and engage with the activities offered by the museum.
To begin with, we used the logo and its form to develop a bold and memorable stylistic approach for the layouts of promotional materials. Using the form of the two L’s in the museum’s name LLDC, we created a series of print and outdoor collateral that made the form of the logo unmistakable. This was the first step in making the museum’s name and logo stand out and remain memorable.
By enhancing the brand language, we were able to increase the recall value of the museum’s identity and positively impact its outreach. We continue to engage with the museum trust members to discover meaningful ways in which the museum can bring its resources to artisans and connect meaningfully with its stakeholders.
