The School of Arts & Sciences at Ahmedabad University is reputed for its excellence across a range of fields like Visual Arts, Biology, Social Sciences, Mathematics and Performing Arts. In 2018, we were invited to design and execute a permanent exhibition at the School showcasing its courses, faculty members and research work.
The school comprised of 5 distinct departments and we used the iconic symbols of the 5 platonic solids to identify each department. Just like the unique, regular geometric solids, the departments too are unique in their approach and area of work and traverse the domains of art, science, mathematics and biology.
Research is an important area for the school, across all its departments. The research panels showcase a wide range of faculty research and are designed with an aim to regularly update them with newer research. The panels make the research accessible to peers and students, across departments and schools.
The idea of creating a gallery that showcases the work of the school made it possible for the school’s ideas and vision to be made public and available for thoughtful absorption. The availability of selective and curated information about the school’s mission and work makes for a refreshing ‘browse’, that cannot be achieved through the infinite digital sphere.
